PHOTO-CHEMICAL SEPARATION OF CERIUM FROM RARE-EARTH MIXTURES IN AQUEOUS-SOLUTION

摘要
Cerium has been separated from lanthanide mixtures by photochemical means. Separation is accomplished by photooxidation of Ce3+ in acidic aqueous solution, followed by isolation of Ce4+ by precipitation with iodate. Separation factors exceed 100 and total product yields exceed 95%. Quantum yields are estimated to be at least 0.10. © 1979.
