SYNTHESIS AND MICROWAVE CHARACTERIZATION OF POLYPYRROLE-PVC BLENDS

Conductive blends have been obtained by an in-situ growing of polypyrrole in an insulating matrix (PVC). This polymerization induces for concentrations lower than 15% conductivity ranged from 10(-5) to 1 S.cm-1. Studies of synthesis conditions show how final properties (structure, conductivity) are mainly controled by solvant nature, and hydration level of oxydizing agent. A suitable choice of these parameters leads to processable material worked up by all classical methods. Permittivity measurement points out how microwave properties are strongly dependant on the processing (injection, moulding).
