METHANE BREAKUP DURING H+/HE+-GRAPHITE INTERACTIONS

摘要
When graphite samples are bombarded with hydrogen ions at similar to 800 K, peculiar transient methane emission ''spikes'' are observed at the termination of the irradiation beam. Simultaneous H+/He+ bombardment of graphite has conclusively shown that methane molecules are being broken up in the implantation zone by the incident ions, as the CH4 molecules diffuse to the front surface from the end of the H+ ion range, where they are formed.
