摘要
Evidence over the past two decades illustrates the continuing stressful relationship between the airport industry and local community. This paper develops a conceptual framework for examining interrelationships among a set of household attributes, a set of cognized noise effects, and behaviour. Hypotheses are tested using a random sample of Buffalo, New York, households. Results indicate that cognition of airport noise can be explained by the locational and demographic attributes of households; and that the possibilbity of protesting the noise is related to both the household's attributes and the household's cognition of the effects of the noise. Path analyses is used to explore the complexity of cognitive linkages between household characteristics and behavior. -Authors
