摘要
Thermal decomposition of Mg(OH)2 in vacuo to give high surface area MgO leads to the formation of an oxidising species in the MgO which reaches maximum concentration of 3.5 × 1019 g-1after preparation at 1100 K. The nature of the oxidising species is uncertain; the results are consistent with the presence (O- O-) pairs in the bulk and on the surface, but it is also possible that coordinatively unsaturated O2- ions on the surface could lead to similar results. © 1979.
