A frequency domain theorem is given for the stability analysis of systems that have several equilibrium states. Under consideration are closed loop systems containing a single instantaneous nonlinearity in an otherwise linear system. A condition is derived, involving the frequency response of the linear part of the system, which guarantees that all bounded solutions approach an equilibrium state, and a geometrical interpretation of the results is found. © 1969 Martinus Nijhoff.
