A follow-up report is presented on 20 patients with prolapse of the vagina following hysterectomy treated by transplantation of straps of external oblique aponeurosis. After 5 to 20 years, only 2 of the 20 patients experienced recurrence. Mention is made of the extension of the scope of the operation to include prolapse of the functioning uterus and for use as a primary procedure at the time of hysterectomy when it seems that the available supporting structures are inadequate. © 1969.
