摘要
The lenses of beagle dogs of known ages were weighed immediately after killing animals, frozen and subsequently separated into equator, anterior and posterior cortex and nucleus by means of trephine. These parts were lyophilized to complete dryness in order to determine the water content. Statistical analysis indicated that the lenses of female animals are of lesser weight than those of males of similar age. In both males and females, the water content in the lens equator is higher than in the nucleus and decreases in both parts with ageing.
