INVAR EFFECT IN IRON BASED FCC ALLOYS

摘要
A model of interacting virtual bound states is used to calculate the atomic magnetic moments in iron based fcc alloys. This clearly shows that the magnetic moment not only depends on environment but on magnetic order too. Consequently there is a change in magnetic moment between 0 K and the ordering temperature which leads to a change in cohesive energy. If the iron-iron exchange coupling constant is negative the Invar effect arises from iron atoms surrounded by iron atoms whose magnetic moments are parallel to this of the central atom. © 1979.
