GENERATOR-COORDINATE STUDY OF ELASTIC CA-40+CA-40 SCATTERING

摘要
Elastic 40Ca + 40Ca scattering is studied using a generator coordinate method equivalent to the resonating group method. The phase shifts are very similar to those obtained with a shallow local potential. A rotational band of molecular resonances is found with a rotational constant of 12.7 keV. A qualitative discussion of absorption indicates that the optical potential may be transparent for the grazing partial waves between J ≈ 30 and J ≈ 50. This feature might explain the apparent contradiction between different optical-model analyses of experimental data. The molecular resonances are suggested to be searched for in the 40Ca + 40Ca(5- inelastic channel between 70 and 85 MeV (c.m.). © 1979.
