摘要：

The synthesis and characterization of a series of complexes of 2,2',2 ''-terpyridine 1,1',1 ''-trioxide (terpyO(3)), a potentially tridentate ligand capable of forming seven-membered chelate rings, are reported. The compounds have been studied using electronic, infrared, and Mossbauer spectroscopy as well as magnetic susceptibility, X-ray powder pattern, and conductivity measurements. terpyO(3) acts as a very weak tridentate ligand and forms a series of bis and mono complexes with Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, and Fe3+ and bis complexes of Fe3+ and Mn3+ as well as a mono complex with Mn2+.
