SPECTRA OF IMPURITIES IN INTERSTELLAR GRAINS

摘要
The possibility that the diffuse interstellar absorption bands may be due to resonance lines of impurity atoms trapped in low temperature hydrocarbon matrices is examined. Reference is made to the spectrum of Na atoms in solid C6H6 at temperatures below 100 K. Comparison of these spectral features to the diffuse bands at 5780.6 Å and 5797.1 Å is made. Evidence for vibronic structure in the diffuse interstellar band system is discussed. © 1969.
