OXIDATION MECHANISM OF MANGANESE-ZINC FERRITES IN RELATION WITH CATIONIC DISTRIBUTION BELOW 700-DEGREES-C

摘要
The oxidation-reduction mechanism in Mn-Zn ferrites MnxZnyFe2.044O4 with O <x+y <1, prepared by a standard ceramic route was investigated in the temperature range 3OO-7OO°C. X-ray diffraction analysis and thermogravimetry measurements have enabled us to state iron and manganese ions distribution in the spinel lattice which is given by the formula: (Mn0.8x2+Zn2+yFe3+ 1-0.8x-y)A(Fe3+1+0.6x+y Fe2+1-0.8x-yMn3+0.2y) BO2-4. Below about 45O°C, these ferrites are oxidized in cation deficient spinels but the oxidation depends highly on oxygen pressure. With increasing temperature further oxidation of Mn2+-ions results in the appearance of α-Fe2O3 accompanied by a defect spinel phase due to zinc presence. © 1990.
