THERMAL REARRANGEMENT OF 5-METHYL-1,2,4-HEXATRIENE - A FACILE 1,5-HYDROGEN MIGRATION

摘要
The vinylallene 5-methyl-1,2,4-hexatriene (1) has been shown to rearrange rapidly at about 100° to cis-2-methyl-1,3,5-hexatriene (2). The activation energy for the reaction was found to be 24·6 kcal mole-1 one of the lowest values recorded for a 1,5-hydrogen shift. The effect of the allenic grouping on the transition state is discussed. © 1969.
