DETECTOR THRESHOLD AND SATURATION EFFECTS ON THE STATISTICS OF A FLUCTUATING SIGNAL

摘要
The distortion introduced at the detection on the statistics of a fluctuating signal is examined in the two cases when the characteristic curve of the detecting system presents a threshold, besides a saturation level. In particular, the possibility is investigated of discerning, starting with the detected signal, between two statistical distributions of the incoming signal, namely the Rice–Nakagami and the log–normal laws, which are of interest in the field of atmospheric optics. © 1979 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
