ASSIGNMENT OF OPTICALLY PUMPED FAR-INFRARED LASER LINES IN 1,1-DIFLUOROETHYLENE

Results from laser Stark spectroscopy are used to assign new optically pumped laser lines in 1,1-difluoroethylene, CH2CF2, to absorption lines in the ν4, ν9 and ν5 + ν10 vibration bands. The laser Stark spectrum shows that CH2CF2 has zero-field coincidences with almost all CO2 laser lines between 916 and 987 cm-1: this is confirmed using a laser opto-acoustic detector, suggesting more emission lines are possible. This detector has also been used to detect strong absorption of 891 GHz radiation in CH2CF2: this will be useful for active stabilisation of the HCN laser frequency. © 1978.
