NONCLASSICAL KINETICS AND REACTION PROBABILITY FOR BIOMOLECULAR REACTIONS IN LOW-DIMENSIONAL MEDIA

Reactions of A + A --> 0, A + B --> 0, and A + B --> B are simulated in 1-D, 2-D square lattice, 2-D critical percolation cluster, and 3-D cubic lattices with various local reaction probabilities, P. The heterogeneity exponents, h, are evaluated in all these reactions (k approximately t(-h)). Sharp changes of h with increasing P occur at early times for reactions in less than three-dimensional media. Classical reaction-limited kinetics is obtained for all reactions at early times when P --> 0. At long times all reactions are in the nonclassical diffusion-limited regime, regardless of P.
