QCD FRAGMENTATION FUNCTIONS FOR B-C AND B-C-ASTERISK PRODUCTION

摘要
The dominant production mechanism for (b) over bar c bound states with a large transverse momentum in high energy processes is the production of a high energy (b) over bar antiquark, followed by its fragmentation into the (b) over bar c state. We calculate the fragmentation functions for the production of the S-wave states B-c and B-c* to leading order in the QCD coupling constant. The fragmentation probabilities for (b) over bar --> B-c and (b) over bar --> B-c* are approximately 3.8 X 10(-4) and 5.4 X 10(-4), while those for c --> B-c and c --> B-c* are smaller by two orders of magnitude.
