摘要
Transcription of equine infectious anemia virus (EIA V) requires complex interactions among cellular factors, viral proteins, and cis-acting viral RNA and DNA elements. These regulatory components are currently being identified and characterized with the aim of better understanding their functions and combined actions. The EIA V system provides a unique opportunity to compare and contrast regulatory strategies among lentiviruses. In addition to illuminating EIA V pathobiology, these studies will increase our understanding of other retroviruses, since it is likely that these agents have evolved slightly different means to solve the regulatory and replicative problems imposed by their hosts. © 1993 Academic Press Ltd.
