ENERGY SPECTRUM OF SECONDARY ELECTRONS AND FLUORESCENT EFFICIENCY OF ELECTRONS IN 3914-A BAND

摘要
The relation given by Vriens for the total ionization cross-sections has been utilised to obtain ionization cross-section per unit energy range. For slow secondary electrons, the cross-sections are in fair agreement with the first Born cross-sections. It is further shown that for the production of fast secondary electrons, Møller cross-section satisfactorily approximates the Born cross-section. The expressions are employed to calculate the efficiency with which the kinetic energy of an electron, absorbed in air of uniform density, is converted into photon energy in the 3914-Å band. The results are compared with the available theoretical and the experimental investigations. © 1969.
