摘要
In Stellaria media L. plants, cotyledons possess axillary shoots. The first pair of opposite foliage leaves frequently lack any axillary shoots, and in the leaf pairs at subsequent nodes, generally only one leaf of a pair has an axillary shoot. When a 7-mu-L drop of 0.44 mM benzyladenine is applied daily to 5- to 7-d old seedling shoot tips for 7 d, shoots are initiated in the axils of most of the leaves that are empty in control plants. This suggests that cytokinins play a role in the initiation of shoots during the normal ontogeny of the plant.
