THE LOADING OF FIBROUS FILTERS WITH SUBMICRON PARTICLES

摘要
The loading characteristics of fibrous filters has been studied experimentally. Filters have been loaded with narrow sized submicron fractions of aerosol particles. The collection efficiency in the range 0.01 - 0.6-mu-m diameter has been measured progressively as pressure drop has increased. The effect of filter structure change during this loading process has thus been measured quantatively up to a pressure drop of 100 mm water gauge or about five times the initial clean filter value. As the aerosol particles are added the structure of the filter becomes finer and the aerosol diameter for maximum penetration falls.
