摘要
Estimation of plutonium deposition in the body by urinalysis is complicated by variations in sample collection and analysis, by normal metabolic changes. and by possible sample contamination. The variation of urinary plutonium excretion has been studied in samples collected over the past 22 yr from employees who excrete detectable levels of plutonium. Special 24 hr urine samples were collected from eight employees who had been removed from plutonium exposure. The plutonium excretion rate was studied by comparing the variation found in the 24 hr samples with that found in routine samples from the same individuals and by examining the analytical recovery using 236Pu tracer in each sample. Over five days, the 24 hr plutonium excretion values for eight employees varied significantly less than predicted by their routine analyses. © 1969 Health Physics Society.
