GAS-CHROMATOGRAPHIC DETERMINATION OF MINERAL OIL IN WATER

Contamination of water with mineral oil products may be detrimental for drinking water to be prepared from waters thus polluted. For determination of these pollutants a sensitive method was developed. Attention is paid mainly to a method of determination for oil components in true solution (aromatic hydrocarbons), which are considered most detrimental. The method described is based on extraction of the oil from the water and subsequent gas-chromatographic analysis of the resulting extracts. The method developed has been applied in the laboratory and in the field. © 1969.
