摘要
The work function, surface energy, charge density, and potential are computed self-consistently for the semi-infinite electron gas model of a metal surface. Careful attention is given to quantum density oscillations. A procedure of Kohn and Sham for the inhomogeneous electron gas is used to treat exchange and correlation effects. Results are compared with experimental data. © 1969.
