MAGNETIC SPIRAL STRUCTURE OF KMNCL3 - NEUTRON-DIFFRACTION STUDY

摘要
We have found that KMnCl3 can be obtained in two orthorhombic but distinctly different crystallographic phases. The crystallographic and magnetic structures of one of these phases, which is of the KCdCl3 type, were studied and are described. This phase is paramagnetic at room temperature and undergoes a transition to a magnetically ordered state at TN2.1 K. The magnetic structure below TN consists of a spiral propagating along b, with a period of 3.17b. The magnetic moment is (3.780.14) B and no component was observed along b. © 1979 The American Physical Society.
