摘要
Muscidae are the dominant anthophilous insects in arctic and subarctic environments. In Abisko National Park, North Sweden, five genera were found to visit blossoms regularly for feeding. Species of Thricops and Phaonia fed extensively on pollen and nectar, and some specialized modes of gathering pollen are described. Morphological adaptations, abundance, activity, periodicity, and flower fidelity are discussed. Muscidae are the leading group of pollinators of open blossoms in arctic and subarctic ecosystems. Brief notes are given on other flower-visiting Diptera.
