THERMODYNAMIC PROPERTIES FROM INTENSITY MEASUREMENTS IN MICROWAVE SPECTROSCOPY

摘要
It is shown that the number of molecules per unit volume in the lower of the two levels of a rotational transition may be determined by measurement of the absolute intensity of the transition. If the total number of molecules per unit volume is obtained by pressure measurement, the internal partition function may be calculated and from this the free energy function may be calculated. An analysis of probable errors in measurement indicates that this technique is competitive with calorimetric measurements in accuracy. © 1969.
