SYNTHESIS OF POLY(ALKYNYLSILANES) HAVING VARIOUS AROMATIC-GROUPS IN THE BACKBONE

Not many poly(alkynylsilanes) of structure given in this paper are known. The polymers where R = Me, Et or Ph and Ar = p-phenylene have been previously prepared by reaction of the disodium or dilithium salt of p-diethynylbenzene with a dialkyl-or diaryldihalosilane. Few details of these thermally stable polymers have been reported, but they should have interesting properties depending on the R and Ar groups. Here the authors describe some results of a study of the condensation polymerization route to polymers of structure proposed in this paper.
