摘要
Mucormycosis is a term applied to diseases characterized by broad non-septate hyphae in tissue. Formerly the terms phycomycosis, zygomycosis, rhinophycomycosis, and hyphomycosis were used. Since identification of the genus responsible is possible only by culture, the more inclusive terms Mucormycosis and Entomophthoromycosis are used here. The first, Mucormycosis, is usually an opportunistic infection involving some member of the Zygomycete order Mucorales, the second is a rarely encountered subcutaneous disease involving some member of the order Entomophthorales. A reference list has been compiled which is mainly concerned with species of Absidia, Rhizopus, Mortierella, Basidiobolus, Entomophthora, and Hyphomyces pathogenic to mammals. In some cases, other classes of animals affected by the same fungi are considered and occasionally an unusual 'phycomycetous' fungus is listed because of its involvement in disease. In an effort to make the literature on these mycoses more readily available a bibliography was compiled.
