摘要
The ordering process of the monoclinic Au5Mn2 structure is investigated by means of high resolution electron microscopy. On quenching from the f.c.c. solid solution followed by annealing at 400 °C the tetragonal DO22 phase forms first; then a metastable long period superstructure with orthorhombic symmetry develops and finally the monoclinic Au5Mn2 nucleates along twin boundaries of this orthorhombic phase. These different stages can be recorded by dark field high resolution imaging, selecting all superlattice reflections of the [001] fcc* zone within a reciprocal lattice unit cell, excluding the basic reflections.
