ELASTIC INTERACTION BETWEEN A STRAIGHT DISLOCATION AND A BUBBLE OR A PARTICLE

An approximate solution for the elastic interaction energy between a straight dislocation and a bubble or particle at large separation distances is presented, along with an exact analysis of the interaction energy for a bubble sitting symmetrically on a screw dislocation. By combining these results, a more accurate and complete picture of the variation of interaction energy with distance is obtained. The consequences of this interaction are discussed in terms of the force exerted by a dislocation on a particle or bubble, and in terms of the resultant effect on low-temperature and high-temperature mechanical strength. © 1969.
