CALIBRATING THE SPIN POLARIZATION IN ELECTRON-BEAMS FROM NEA GAAS PHOTOCATHODES BY MEANS OF ELECTRON-SPECTROSCOPY

摘要
The interaction of polarized electrons with magnetic targets gives rise to large and well measurable effects in electron spectroscopy. Such effects can be used to test and calibrate the spin polarization of an electron beam impinging on a reference sample. We present data on the spin polarization of electron beams produced by negative electron affinity (NEA) GaAs photocathodes measured by means of spin dependent absorbed current and inverse photoemission spectroscopies on Fe films epitaxially grown on the Ag(100) surface.
