摘要
Chitinase (Chi85) from Alteromonas sp. strain 0-7 contains the two conserved regions common to microbial and plant chitinases. We did site-directed mutagenesis of Chi85 to investigate the effects of the conserved amino acid residues on chitinase activity. We suggest that Asp-290 and Glu-292 of Chi85 may be the essential amino acid residues for the cleavage of beta-glycosidic linkage of chitin.
