摘要
The effect of the steaming temperature on the survival of acetyl- and 4-O-methyl-glucuronosyl side groups in birchwood xylan was investigated. The acetyl substituents turned out to be more stable under the specific conditions of the steaming-extraction process than the 4-O-methyl-glucuronosyl substituents. Xylan fragments obtained by this process were further degraded under the controlled conditions of xylanase hydrolysis and an acetyl-xylobiose mixture was isolated in preparative scale from which the main component was 3'-O-acetyl-beta-xylobiose.
