摘要
In addition to spin-orbit splitting, photoelectron spectra from the hexagonal xenon overlayer at maximum coverage on a Pd(100) surface show a splitting of the Xe 5p 3 2 peak and strong dispersion. Both effects are shown to be symptomatic of lateral interactions in the Xe layer. Dynamical calculations indicate that, because the adsorbate layer is out of registry, backscattering from the substrate does not influence the angular distribution of photoemitted electrons. © 1979.
