摘要
Sunlit airglows of the planets are partly composed of scattering by constituents in rarefied upper atmospheres. Here we derive formulas for rapid calculation of the angular distribution of intensity and the degree of polarization for resonant and fluorescent scattering of radiation by atoms. Particular emphasis is given to spectral lines having hyperfine structure due to nuclear spin. © 1990.
