ANGULAR OVERLAP INTERPRETATION OF THE SPECTROMAGNETIC PROPERTIES OF THE NITRATE DERIVATIVE OF COBALT(II)-SUBSTITUTED CARBONIC-ANHYDRASE

We have applied the angular overlap model of the ligand field (AOM) to reproduce the d-d electronic transitions, the g values and, in particular, the magnetic susceptibily tensor, chi, of bovine cobalt-substituted carbonic anhydrase reacted with nitrate (CoCANO3). The room-temperature magnetic susceptibily tensor has been previously found by measuring the pseudocontact shift of a number of protons via H-1-NMR spectroscopy. The results are satisfactory and provide a new route for the determination of the ligand field parameters of paramagnetic metal ions in metalloproteins.
