Laminar isothermal entrance flows in ducts of circular cross section with uniform rate of mass injection at the wall are calculated from the boundary-layer equations by an implicit finite-difference technique. Results are reported for systems with constant molecular weight, for injection of a light gas into a heavy gas, and for injection of a heavy gas into a light gas, with special emphasis on helium-nitrogen mixtures. Dependence of density and viscosity on composition is properly taken into account. The effect of molecular weight on flow development and mixing is discussed. © 1969.
