摘要
Photoemission of adsorbed xenon (PAX) is a very sensitive probe towards the local work function. This is shown with three selected examples, namely a bimetallic Ag/Ru(001) surface, a trimetallic (Ag+Au)/Ru(001) surface and an oxygen Si(111)7×7 surface, which prove PAX to be a powerful technique for the qualitative and quantitative characterization of surface heterogeneities on an almost atomic scale.
