GLASS-CERAMIC COATINGS FOR TITANIUM ALUMINIDES

摘要
Four glass-ceramic coatings have been successfully developed to function as both-hydrogen barriers and oxidation protection on super alpha-2 titanium aluminide. The coefficients of thermal expansion (88 x 10(-7)/-degrees-C to 117 x 10(-7)/-degrees-C) of these coatings provide a good match with that of the alloy, and the coatings show excellent adherence in thermal cycling to 982-degrees-C. In addition, the four coatings have measured emittances from 0.67 to 0.80 at this temperature. Finally, the coatings display the desired low hydrogen and oxygen permeation characteristics.
