摘要
Tetrahydrocarbazole 3 and 2,3-dimethylindole 10 were ethylated at the β-position by heating with polyphosphate ester (PPE) at 160° to form in about 60% yields ethylindolenines 2 and 11, respectively. This procedure may provide a simple and convenient method to prepare ethylindolenines from 2,3-disubstituted indoles. © 1969.
