FLUCTUATIONS AND OVERLAP DISTRIBUTIONS IN THE KINETICS OF 1ST-ORDER PHASE-TRANSITIONS

摘要：

We introduce analogies between large fluctuations in the scaling regime of the kinetics of first-order transitions, and equilibrium fluctuations in systems with quenched disorder such as spin glasses. The sensitive dependence on initial conditions in the former problem is treated by us in the same manner as quenched disorder in the latter case. We calculate time-dependent overlap functions, which we find are directly related to the order parameter for the transition, and suggest methods to test our results experimentally.
