An example of granular cell myoblastoma arising within a major nerve (vagus) has been described and the evidence incriminating the cell of Schwann as the source of granular cells presented. A peculiar metabolic disturbance affecting the latter cells, rather than a true neoplasia, is thought to be operative in the pathogenesis of these lesions. © 1968 Springer-Verlag.
