Ineffective and ungrammatical writing is unacceptable in the exposition of college students. The goal of improving expository writing can be pursued in conjunction with the substantive purposes of a political science course. This article describes, illustrates, and suggests remedies for such expository errors as faulty beginnings, the failure to prosecute a definite argument, rhetorical shortcomings and corresponding liabilities, problems of grammar, and control over interpretation. © 1979 Taylor and Francis Group, LLC.
