In the Lead Article by Sayre & Chapman [Acta Cryst. (1995), A51, 237-252], care should be taken in photocopying Pig. I that both ligher and darker squares referring to XM are reproduced. There is a tendency for the lighter square to be lost in the photocopying. Also, in Note 7 on page 250, second line after the equation, U-2n Should be changed to U(2)n.
