A CONVENIENT ASSAY FOR MONO- DI- AND OLIGOPHENYLALANINES

摘要
A convenient and rapid separation of mono-, di-, and triphenylalanines on miniature columns of benzoylated diethylaminoethyl-cellulose is described. Phenylalanine passes directly through the column which retains the di- and tripeptides. The di- and triphenylalanines are then successively eluted from the column with solutions of formamide, ethanol, and water. Tetraphenylalanine elutes essentially with triphenylalanine under the conditions examined. For studies of protein biosynthesis using a synthetic polyuridylic acid template, three classes of peptides can be readily separated: mono-, di-, and oligophenylalanines (the latter containing peptides of chain length three and greater). © 1969.
