Vibronic and spin-orbit coupling effects in the magnetic circular dichroism of nickel(II) bromate hexahydrate

摘要
The single-crystal magnetic circular dichroism spectrum of [Ni(H2O)(6)](BrO3)(2) is found to be strongly temperature dependent with an extensive vibronic structure in the 'red' band. The main features of the spectrum consist of C terms exhibiting first- and second-order spin-orbit splitting and progressions in the nickel-oxygen stretching mode built upon a double false origin.
