LAMINATED COPTCR/CR FILMS FOR LOW-NOISE LONGITUDINAL RECORDING

摘要
The magnetic properties and recording performance of laminated CoPtCr/Cr films were studied. We investigated the effects of Cr underlayer thickness, magnetic layer thickness and Cr interlayer thickness, and compared the results of laminated films to unlaminated films. The media noise reduction was observed using laminated films. A 3-nm thick nonmagnetic Cr interlayer is sufficient to effectively reduce the media noise. The microstructure of these films were analyzed using TEM. The results confirm the proposed noise reduction mechanism.
