PHASE-SHIFT ANALYSIS FOR P-HE-4 ELASTIC-SCATTERING AT 45-MEV, 52-MEV, 60-MEV, AND 65-MEV

A phase shift analysis of 45.0, 52.3, 59.6 and 64.9 MeV p-4He elastic scattering has been performed using recent differential cross section and analysing power data measured at RCNP, together with total reaction cross-section information. The analysis shows that information on the total reaction cross section and measurements of the analysing power in the angular region of Coulomb interference are indispensable to determine the phase shifts. However, it is also shown that the available data do not lead to a unique set of phase shifts. In the energy range 39.80 to 59.6 MeV, two sets of phase shifts were found. At 64.9 MeV four sets of phase shifts were found, and two of them predict that there is an angle where the analysing power equals unity at an energy between 60 and 65 MeV. © 1979.
